Haymarket Alliance

Neon Playground 2.0 is organised by the Haymarket Alliance, a not-for-profit community organisation that was established to represent the broad spectrum of community, businesses and groups within the Haymarket precinct to bolster the local economy.
Members include Haymarket HQ, Haymarket Chamber of Commerce, Darling Square Community Bank, Soul of Chinatown and Revelism.

Some of these core organisations delivered the inaugural Neon Playground Festival in 2022.

Executive producer

Kevin Cheng

Kevin is the manager of the Haymarket Community Improvement District (Pilot) and executive producer of Neon Playground 2.0. With a background in journalism, digital communications and marketing, Kevin also co-founded Soul of Chinatown – a community group that’s working to revitalise Sydney’s Chinatown.

He is passionate about Asian-Australian representation and believes that Asian-Australian creatives and artists will drive the present and future of Chinatown.

Mandylights

Mandylights is a leading lighting and visual design company based in Sydney with offices in Australia and the United Kingdom and project credits from some sixty five countries around the world. At home, Mandylights’ work can be seen lighting the Sydney Harbour Bridge and city for Vivid Sydney, along with permanent light shows in Devonport, Tasmania and Uluru in the Northern Territory.

Further afield, Mandylights designed the permanent Vector Lights on the Auckland Harbour Bridge, work in the curation of the Beijing Chaoyang International Light Festival and works with international artists such as Calvin Harris, RAYE and Pnau as they tour some of the world’s largest venues.

Other notable projects include the record-breaking Las Vegas residency of the Backstreet Boys and original light artwork installations everywhere from London’s Christmas at Kew Gardens to Al Ula in Saudi Arabia, the Singapore Night F1 Races and New York’s Brooklyn Botanic Gardens.
